With long summer days and warmer evenings, golf days on our championship courses offer the perfect escape for players of every kind. Our rolling countryside comes alive, becoming an inviting canvas for seasoned golfers, solo adventurers, couples reconnecting, and groups of friends seeking fresh air and fun in the great outdoors.
Step away from routine, lean into nature, and let each moment unfold in good company, or for those looking for some quiet time on the course.
Golf Days, Redefined
It’s no secret that the way we approach golf is changing. According to our latest piece on golfing trends shaping the game in 2025, players are increasingly seeking experiences that combine sport with lifestyle. Shorter formats, more inclusive spaces, and an emphasis on wellness and tech-savvy play are all part of this transformation. Here at Stoke by Nayland, we’re embracing this shift in full swing!
A golf day at our resort reflects a desire for playing on a championship course that challenges your skills but doesn’t overwhelm your senses. Warm up with a few swings in our Foresight GC Quad Golf Simulator, grab a mid-round bite at the Sports Bar, and finish the day with dinner overlooking the lakes.
Morning Moments
The old proverb “the early bird catches the worm” rings true here. Many of our guests start their summer golf day early, when the only sounds are the rustle of trees, peaceful birdsong, the thwack of a well-struck iron. Before heading out onto the course, head to our Sports Bar for a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day – from sausage, bacon, and egg baps to porridge, waffles, or a full English, there’s something to fuel every player.
For those new to the game or returning after time away? Arrive early to warm up at the driving range – with 17 covered bays, there’s plenty of space! If you’re looking for that extra edge, our coaching sessions are also a great option to pinpoint areas of improvement before you step onto the course.
If you're unsure what to pack for the day, don’t worry, our guide on 5 golf essentials will ensure you’re well-prepared, from clubs to clothing and even hydration tips.
Pick Up the Pace
By mid-morning, the course is buzzing with energy. Couples can be seen strolling our scenic fairways, groups of friends debate choices of clubs, while individual players can set their own tone of the day while chatting with fellow players along the way. We even have a fleet of golf buggies for those looking for a more relaxed pace.
The Gainsborough and Constable courses each offer a unique challenge, perfect for summer play. With sweeping views, picturesque water features, and a blend of challenge and reward keeps our guests coming back. Many visitors often speak of the satisfaction in navigating the famous lake crossing on the 10th hole, or the final stretch that invites you to finish strong.
With the sun on your back and countryside all around, it’s clear why golf days continue to thrive.
Improve Your Wellbeing
It’s no coincidence that more people are turning to golf not just for leisure, but for their health and wellbeing. Our team recently explored this in Five Reasons Why Golf Breaks Are Good for Your Wellbeing, where we outlined the mental clarity, physical benefits, and emotional balance that come from spending a day on the course.
The slower pace, the fresh air, the social interaction with friends, family and new acquaintances – there are many reasons why golf has become such a rejuvenating outlet. You don’t need to shoot under par to leave the course feeling better than when you arrived.
Post-Round Fun
After you’ve returned your clubs, many of our guests head straight to our Sports Bar or Lakes Restaurant for a well-earned meal. With locally inspired seasonal dishes and panoramic views, it’s the perfect setting to recount the day’s highlights. For something more casual, relax on the sunny Orchard Lounge Bar & Terrace with your favourite tipple in hand. Alternatively, for those who want to keep the relaxation going, Peake Spa awaits with a full menu of signature treatments, which can be paired with a delicious afternoon tea in the sunshine.
The natural transition from sport to self-care is one of the reasons our golf days so often turn into golf breaks. A single day might start with a round, but it often ends with a dip in the pool, a shared bottle of wine on the sun-drenched terrace, and plans to return before heading to one of our comfortable rooms or suites.
