HR Assistant

This role is offered at 30 hours per week, with salary pro-rated accordingly.
Stoke by Nayland Resort is seeking an HR Assistant who will perform a wide range of human resources functions in areas including recruitment, onboarding and induction, maintaining employee records, and payroll.
The role will assist the Head of People & Culture to support business objectives and provide support to team members and managers in all aspects of the employee lifecycle.
Job responsibilities:
- Provide advice and support to managers on employee relations issues
- Assist with recruitment and retention, and administer the recruitment process, assisting with interviews as required
- Assist with offboarding processes
- Lead the Resort Induction, ensuring all new team members receive a consistent welcome
- Prepare HR letters and employment-related documentation, including offer letters, job descriptions, and contracts
- Build and maintain credible and professional relationships with managers and team members
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records on both the digital platforms and systems, and internal records and spreadsheets in line with GDPR requirements
- Act as the first point of contact for workplace issues, including grievances and disciplinary matters
- Liaise with our external HR Compliance Advice Service on employee relation cases, ensuring advice is followed
- Support payroll by effectively communicating HR data, including starters, leavers, absences, and changes to terms
- Ensure HR is administered in accordance with UK employment law and company policies
- Respond to general employee queries on HR policies and processes
- Support training and learning initiatives and work with managers to facilitate employee development and manage performance
- Develop positive relationships with local schools and organise and administer work experience placements
- Administer the employee benefits scheme, including membership cards and management of the membership system
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity, and handle sensitive information professionally
- Perform regular staff accommodation inspections and administer agreements
Qualifications or desired skills:
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in an HR Advisor or Administrator role
- Basic knowledge of UK employment law
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention for detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An empathetic and people-centric approach with experience in delivering pastoral care to support employee wellbeing
- CIPD Level 3 qualification or willingness to work towards
