Autumn Activities in Suffolk

It’s official, the leaves have started to drop, the nights are drawing in and there’s a distinct chill in the air – Autumn has arrived! The good news is, there’s plenty to do and see around Suffolk and Essex in the Autumn – here’s some of my favourite up and coming events, perfect for those staying in the area over the next few months.

Oktoberfest

For the first time ever, the world-famous Oktoberfest comes to Colchester Castle Park on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th October. This huge weekend will showcase traditional Bavarian entertainment, food and drink!

Just an FYI – this is an over 18’s only event, so not one you can drag the kids to!

Scaresville

Scaresville is not an activity for the faint hearted and easily scared. It’s a haunted village which ‘mysteriously’ appears at Kentwell Hall each year around the time of Halloween. You’ll be taken on an hour-long journey through dark rooms, across open ground and water and through a forest. Perfect for groups of friends to enjoy – and reasonably priced too.

Here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect:

Bonfire Night

Whilst there’s loads of different Bonfire Nights to choose from throughout the region one of my all-time favourites has to be Christchurch Park in Ipswich. Taking place this year on Saturday 4th November, it’s a perfect fun-filled event for all the family to enjoy. There’s a spectacular firework display, entertainment, a funfair and loads more!

Fleece Jazz

Fleece Jazz is a jazz gig hosted at SbN most Friday nights. The gigs bring a range of different jazz musicians each week for hotel guests, locals and jazz enthusiasts to enjoy alike. SbN also offer a special hotel package to include bed, breakfast and Fleece Jazz tickets so you can make a night of it!
