5 Reasons why A Spa Day is Like Having 10 x Duvet Days Rolled into One

These days it’s pretty commonplace to live life in the fast lane. Demands – work and otherwise – seem to be on the rise and even when life and work finally settle down, many of us feed into the culture of ‘must keep busy’. Putting in one hundred and fifty percent has become an ethic that is inbuilt into our society. It’s no wonder that we need a duvet day (or several) every now and then.

Duvet days are indeed a growing trend among the stressed out and are an important investment that can really benefit our wellbeing. There are many benefits from taking a duvet day and these days of downtime are fast becoming of vital importance. There’s no surprise that duvet days are on the rise, with over one-third of people believing that they are a good idea and 36% claiming that they help with anxiety and stress*.

What really is better than a duvet day? A holiday, yes… but if booking a weekend away or longer isn’t always possible, then consider the next best thing – a spa day. We’ve seen first-hand just how rejuvenating a spa day is for our guests here at Stoke by Nayland Resort. Here’s why…

Reason 1… let someone else pamper you

The great thing about a spa day is that you’re putting yourself into someone else’s hands. You don’t have to worry about anyone or anything else at all for that matter while we do all the hard work for you. Booking yourself in for some treatments can be an incredible tonic. Not only are the treatments beneficial to your well-being but just allowing others to look after you for the day can allow you to take a breather from your usual responsibilities.

Reason 2… Change in scenery helps you reset

Other reasons why a spa day is (in our opinion) like having ten duvet days rolled into one, rests on the fact that the change of scenery can really help to reset your perspective and allow you that space away from the daily grind. Sometimes a duvet day at home in bed is needed and other times a change of location, especially a beautiful environment, can really give you a different perspective as well as the much-needed space from the every-day.

Reason 3… Nature is a good way to manage stress

We’re lucky here to be steeped in nature. Stoke by Nayland Resort is situated in the Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which makes it the perfect place to unwind. There are spa days, and there are spa days. We can definitely vouch for spa days in nature. In fact, spending time in nature can offer a multitude of positive benefits such as inducing calmness, joy and creativity whilst helping you to improve your concentration levels too. Soaking up nature while taking time out really is good for the soul.

Reason 4… Après Spa: Letting someone else do the cooking for you

Finally, one of our favourite parts of any spa experience is letting someone else cook for you! After a day in the spa, enjoying great food and drinks can be such a tonic. Whether you treat yourself to an indulgent dinner in our Lakes Restaurant, for one or invite a friend to join you, getting together and socialising can also be a great boost to our well-being with an enriching way to spend the day. (We have an extensive range of dining options from our Sport’s Bar to Afternoon Tea and fine dining at our Lakes Restaurant, depending on your mood.)

Reason 5… Treatments to settle your nervous system

Take a swim in our beautiful indoor pool, relax in our Jacuzzi, reap the health benefits of the steam room and sauna and book a treatment or two.

There are a whole host of benefits you’ll gain from the spa:

For example, having a massage can really help to soothe low mood, anxiety and stress. It can also boost immunity, improve sleep and allows for deep rest. It can also help with headaches. It can have an instant relaxing effect on many people and others, they will continue to benefit from the effects. With this in mind, we’d definitely recommend one of our health and wellbeing Neom massage treatments.

Spending time in the sanarium has multiple benefits; It can help to improve sleep, stress management, aid in relaxation, help to detox, boost your metabolism and improve immune function. Skin benefits include antiaging, skin rejuvenation, all of this in a short space of time.

Not forgetting to include time in our steam room with another great way to relax, helping with joint stiffness, workout recovery, improve circulation and congestion with benefits to skin health too.

We have a wide range of treatments you might like to explore. Try one of our packages which include a welcome refreshment, a delicious afternoon tea or lunch platter with chilled glass of Prosecco (and includes use of robe, towel and flip flops). Prices start at £99 for our Relax and Unwind Spa Day which includes a 40-minute treatment or the Rasul Mud Therapy Experience.
