Etiquette

A few little rules so that everyone can have fun

At Stoke by Nayland Golf Club, as at other golf courses, the rules of etiquette are put in place to ensure that you and your fellow golfers have the best experience that you can possibly have, and to ensure that the courses remain in good condition. Please adhere to the following:

  • Avoid slow play, i.e. keep up with the group in front
  • Replace all divots
  • Repair all pitch marks on the greens
  • Follow the instruction of the Course Marshal, Pro Shop staff, Golf Secretary or other member of staff as directed
  • Greenkeeping staff have priority on the courses
  • Behaviour should be such that it does not interfere with other guests or members

Dress Code

The basic dress code is suitable golfing attire, i.e. collared shirt, tailored shorts or equivalent for ladies. Socks must be worn - they can be short or long. Golf shoes, with appropriate studs for the weather conditions, must also be worn; it should be noted that soft studs are preferred but not compulsory. Shirts must be tucked in.

Please do not wear:

  • Shirts without collars or sleeves
  • Football shirts
  • Tracksuits
  • Jeans
  • Beach shorts, cargo/combat shorts or 3/4-length trousers
  • Trainers or footwear other than golf shoes
