In only their second season in Essex County Competitions Stoke by Nayland Lady golfers have exceeded their own expectations in reaching the Silver Trophy Final.
The Silver Trophy is for players with a Handicap of 10+ where the competition is played off scratch. There are five players are in each team.
Stoke By Nayland were clear winners in their league and were drawn to play Orsett, at Chigwell GC, on Sunday 7th August in the semi-final. The second semi-final, between Chelmsford and Chigwell, was played at Stoke by Nayland on the same day.
In a very tight match against a talented Orsett team experienced golfer Laura Lowe secured the first point for Stoke. Jude Hanner, in her first season of County golf competition, was a comfortable winner.
Orsett then fought back, winning the next two matches, which meant the place in the Final depended on the result in the last match.
Silver Trophy Captain, Fran Thomas, did not disappoint with a 4&2 victory.
Meanwhile back at Stoke by Nayland GC Chelmsford also made the Final in what was another close match, winning 3-2.
The Final will be on Friday 26th August at Benton Hall GC at 10.30.
